Sailability Gosford

Come And Sail With Us

Your Journey Starts Here

Sailability Gosford

Sailability Gosford recommenced sailing in September 2011 and is sponsored by the Gosford Sailing Club. We had seven fully equipped Access 303 dinghies on the water for the 2018/19 sailing season, which commenced on 11September 2018.

Sailability Gosford offers a sailing experience to organised groups of disabled people who have little or no previous sailing experience. This approach has allowed us to provide a designated time period for individuals in an organised group to participate in and learn something about sailing a dinghy.

Our Sailing Days

During the 2017/18 sailing season we provided the sailing experience to an average of twenty disabled sailors from Coastlink and CCDN on Tuesdays and the same number on Thursdays made up from Life without Barriers, Sunnyfield, House with no Steps. Also we had several individual disabled sailors enjoying our sailing activities on both days. With the help of our volunteers we have taken each member of these groups and the individuals out on the water for a sailing experience. It has been pleasing to observe how the majority of these disabled people look forward to their sailing sessions and that several of them have started to develop a feel for sailing the Access dinghy. Furthermore the camaraderie that has developed between the volunteers and the disabled sailors has had a positive effect on the way our sailing days are conducted.

Volunteers Are Always Welcome

In addition to recruiting volunteers from Gosford Sailing Club, Sailability Gosford has joined Volunteering Central Coast. This membership has provided the referral of several new volunteers to our ranks during the last four sailing seasons and we look forward to VCC being a source of new volunteers in the future. Our Dinghies

Sailability, Gosford operate a fleet of Hansa dinghies. The range of Hansa sailcraft were originally designed to appeal to that huge majority of the world’s population who would love to have a go at sailing, but find it too difficult or uninviting to do so. Click here to find out more
